Hello, I’m Yubi.

Born in Seoul, Yubi’s journey has been one of cultural fusion and artistic exploration. From an early age, she traversed the globe, living in Japan, New Zealand, England, and primarily in the United States. This diverse upbringing laid the foundation for her unique perspective on art and life.

Her academic pursuits reflect this eclectic background. In the States, she delved into the world of Fine Arts, honing her skills and nurturing her creativity. Later, she journeyed to London to study Fashion Photography, adding another dimension to her artistic practice.

Currently, she finds herself at the intersection of these varied disciplines, crafting a distinct style that merges elements of painting and fashion photography into captivating mixed media pieces. This synthesis of mediums allows her to explore new realms of expression, creating art that is both visually striking and emotionally resonant.

Her multicultural upbringing as a Korean has deeply influenced her work, inspiring her to seamlessly weave together diverse cultural influences with insights from psychology, discovering the power of selfhood. Through her art, she aims to bridge divides and celebrate the beauty of acceptance, inviting viewers to contemplate the interconnectedness of themselves, and ultimately of the world.

“In the depths of my creative practice lies a therapeutic journey—a quest to encounter the recesses of unconsciousness where my inner child resides. This inner child embodies not only my vulnerabilities but also the boundless possibilities and inherent powers that reside within. Through my art, I embark on a profound exploration of self, delving into the rich tapestry of my psyche to unearth hidden truths and unlock dormant potential.

Central to my artistic expression is the profound significance of Hanbok, a traditional Korean garment that serves as a poignant symbol of my cultural heritage. Yet, beyond its cultural resonance, Hanbok becomes a canvas for reinvention—a vehicle through which I redefine and reimagine my cultural visual identity. Through the lens of fashion, I breathe new life into tradition, infusing it with contemporary relevance and personal narrative.

Inspired by the lush tranquility of gardens and the mysterious depths of the ocean, my landscapes become reflections of the unconscious. Like the ever-changing currents of the sea and the blossoming beauty of a garden, they embody the fluidity and complexity of the female beauty.

The push and pull of my chosen mediums become a dynamic process of excavation, a journey of unearthing and reshaping. As I engage with various materials and techniques, I delve deeper into the recesses of my own psyche, confronting fears, embracing vulnerabilities, and ultimately forging new archetypes.

My art is a testament to the transformative power of creativity—a journey of self-discovery and personal evolution. Through it, I invite viewers to embark on their own voyage of introspection, to confront their innermost truths, and to embrace the inherent beauty and resilience of the unconscious soul.”
